Catalyst is the annual technical festival of Department of Computer Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research. There are total 6 technical events. The events are scheduled for 6th and 7th March 2017. All the participants of Catalyst will be awarded with participation certificate. Catalyst'17 features a digital certificate which can be verified online. Refreshments will also be provided to the participants.
Catalyst is organized by FACT Forum and a few other volunteers from Department of Computer Technology in RGCER, Nagpur.

Events in Catalyst'17
WebDig - Online Treasure Hunt
WebDig is a treasure hunt event with a twist. It’s online! Participants will be asked to solve tricky questions and riddles within a time limit.
There will be a total of 30 questions to be solved within 2 hours. Participants are expected to use Google to find the answers to the questions and solve as many questions as possible. Answering each question will result in award of 10 points to the participant. The participant with the most number of points will be announced winner. In case of a tie, the participant who correctly answered all the questions fastest, will be the winner.
On registration, participants will be provided with Catalyst ID and password to login and submit their answers.
There is no entry fee for the event for online participants. Participants can also participate onsite. All the participants will be awarded an online certificate.
The winner will receive prizes worth Rs. 3000/- and a certificate. The event will start at 8 am on 5th March 2017 and end at 8 pm on 7th March 2017.
- Multiple registrations from a single person are not allowed. This will result in disqualification without notice.
- Registration on this site for the event will close at 11 PM on 10th March 2017. Spot registrations will be possible directly on WebDig portal.
- All the participants will get online certificates only.
HackJack - Hacking Seminar & Competition
HackJack is the first ever hacking competition happening out of a RTM Nagpur University college. This is a unique event where participants are expected to show off their hacking skills to complete the three levels of varying level of difficulty.
A two-hour seminar will be conducted on the basic topics in practical hacking. Based on the topics covered in this seminar, a competition will be conducted.
This competition will judge the participants’ knowledge of vulnerability and penetration testing of web applications. It will also have questions testing participants knowledge of windows and linux-based exploiting techniques.
The contest duration will be more than 1 hour (depending on how many rounds the participant qualifies). Entry fee for single participant (seminar and competition) is Rs. 100/-

2nd Prize – Rs. 1000/-

The competition will have maximum 3 rounds (depending on the participant's qualifications in initial rounds).
Round 1: This will be a basic hacking round which will last for 15 minutes. Top 50 participants from this round will advance to the next round.
Round 2: This will be an intermediate hacking round ( XSS or LFI or RFI ). This round will last for 30 minutes. Top 10 participants from this round will advance to the final round.
Round 3: This will be an SQL Injection round. This round will last for 30 minutes.
- The judges have the right to question the logic used in solving the problem. If incorrect explanation is provided, the participant may be disqualified from the round.
- Appropriate hints will be provided to all the participants in all the rounds.
- Innovative techniques will result in bonus points.
- Participants should report 30 minutes prior to event schedule.
- Use of automated tools will result in disqualification.
- Popular hacking tools, if allowed at all, will be provided to all the participants.
- Use of internet is restricted. Participants who try to access internet in any way will be disqualified.
- Participants should carry their receipts.
- Spot registration will be subject to availability of computers in the testing labs.
QUIZACHE - Technical Quiz
This is a classic technical quiz event with multiple rounds. First round will be online and the qualifying teams from these rounds will be eligible for the further rounds.
This is a team event. Each team can have upto two members. Entry fee is Rs. 50 per team.
There will be two prizes:
1st Prize – Rs. 1500/-
2nd Prize – Rs. 1000/-
Certificates will be awarded to the winners as well as the participants. This event is scheduled on 7th March 2017.
Event FormatEligibility: Each team can have up to two members. Students from different colleges can form a team. All the participants must be students.
Round 1: This round will have 20 multiple-choice general knowledge and current affairs questions. This round will last 30 minutes. There will be 3 surprise questions.
Round 2: This round will have 20 multiple-choice technical questions. This round will last for 20 minutes. This round will have negative marking. Top 5 teams from this round will advance to the next and final buzzer round.
Round 3: This is a rapid-fire round. This round will have 10 questions. The team who first answers the maximum number of questions will be declared winner.
- All teams should report 30 minutes prior to event schedule.
- Participants should bring their receipts along with them.
- Spot registration will be subject to availability of computers in testing labs.
- Use of Internet in any way during the quiz duration will result in disqualification.
NEOBIZ - Business/Project Idea Presentation
NeoBiz is a competition to test your mettle, pitch in your business idea to the jury and convince them that you've got what it takes.
